IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN APPLYING FOR WITHDRAWAL WITHOUT FINANCIAL PENALTY MID-SEMESTER

A request to discontinue your Yamaha Music course after commencement of the fourth week of teaching you will be liable for the cost of the full semester tuition. If you can demonstrate extenuating circumstances, you may be eligible for discontinuation without, or reduced financial obligation. 

WHAT ARE 'SPECIAL/EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES'?

To be eligible for the above, the special circumstances would need to meet all of the following three conditions.

 

1. The circumstances were beyond your control. Circumstances are beyond your control if a situation occurs which a reasonable person would consider is not due to your action or inaction, either direct or indirect, and for which you are not responsible. This situation must be unusual, uncommon or abnormal. A circumstance that could not have reasonably been anticipated, avoided or guarded against. 

2. The circumstances made the full impact on the student after the date of class commencement

3. The circumstances have made it impracticable for the student to complete the course

Circumstances that make it impracticable for the student to complete the requirements for the course include, but are not limited to:

a. Medical circumstances. For example, where your medical condition has changed to such an extent that you are unable to continue your music studies;

b. Family/personal circumstances. For example, death or severe medical problems within a family, or unforeseen family financial difficulties so that it is unreasonable to expect the student to continue their studies;

c. Employment-related circumstances. For example, where your employment status or arrangements have changed so that you are unable to continue with the Yamaha Music studies, and this change is beyond your control. 

APPLICATIONS

Application forms are to be lodged within 10 days of the first class missed. Supporting documentation must be included and lodged according to the instructions on this form. 

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

You must attach independent supporting documentation for a relevant authority (e.g. doctor, employer) to your application. "Independent" means it should not be from your family or friends. Privacy law preclude us from obtaining information on your behalf so you are responsible for providing evidence to support your claim. Yamaha Music Australia is bound by law to protect your privacy therefore any information provided in relation to this application will only be used for the purpose intended. 

DECISIONS

You will be advised in writing of the outcome of your application within 20 working days of Yamaha Music Australia receiving your application provided that all supporting documentation has been supplied and no further investigation is required to verify the circumstances relating to your application. Each application is assessed in line with individual circumstances ad in adherence to the special circumstances outlined above. 

The outcome will result in one of the following decision by Yamaha Music Australia:

Application to discontinue without financial obligation rejected, in which case account balance will be due within 7 days of notification. If account is already paid, no refund will be applicable. 

Application to discontinue without financial objection accepted, depending on the severity of the affect and circumstances this will result in full or partial fee exemption. Partial fee exemption will require a payment of any balance to be paid within 7 days of written notification.
